Chris started his instructor career in Charleston, South Carolina as an Instructor at a local dive facility. He also was a Divemaster on coastal dive charters while in Charleston. Chris is an IDEA, SDI and SSI Scuba Instructor.
Shelley Edwards, Owner
Shelley is an avid diver, she handles all administrative tasks, customer service and the service department for Lexington Scuba. Shelley is an Alumnus of the University of South Carolina receiving both her Bachelors and Masters Degree from USC.
Renee Bourdeau, Instructor
Renee’s diving career began in the cold waters off Boston’s North Shore until she migrated south to Hollywood, Florida and then onto Columbia, South Carolina. In addition to a passion for diving, Renee’s background in Environmental Biology adds a special appreciation for the aquatic environment which she loves to share with her students. Renee is a NAUI and SDI instructor as well as a DAN instructor.
Matt Mahaffey, Instructor
Matt caught the diving bug nearly two decades ago while vacationing in the Cayman Islands. After earning his Mechanical Engineering degree from Clemson University he relocated to Columbia, South Carolina where he continues to share his passion for SCUBA. Matt has also developed a passion for underwater photography and loves to capture images of the underside of our planet. Matt is a SDI and PADI instructor as well as an EFR instructor.
Jim Staples, Instructor
Jim is a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army. He is a certified PADI instructor with almost 2000 dives. Jim was first certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver in 1973 after attending the Special Forces Underwater Operation’s Course in Key West, FL. He retired to the Lexington area and became a certified instructor after attending the Instructor Development Course with Ocean Diver’s in Key Largo, FL. He has worked or was a guest upon numerous “Liveaboards” including the Aggressor Fleet, in Turks & Caicos, Cayman Islands, and Honduras; as well as Nekton Cruises in Belize, PR, and DR. He has elected to continue his diving profession by joining Lexington SCUBA.
James Dunovant, Divemaster
James is the smiling face you have seen around the shop! He loves talking about diving and is a wealth of information. James is an EMT for the Lexington County Emergency Services. In his free time he works in the dive shop. James is an accomplished Divemaster so you will see him in the pool and on our trips providing invaluable assistance to our instructors and students alike!
Howard Pendley, Divemaster
Howard is an avid diver who caught the diving bug in the early 70's in Southern California. Today Howard is a certified SDI & PADI Divemaster. He also is a Natinoal Safety Council Medical First Responder. He enjoys underwater photography and is spoiled by the many trips to the Grand Cayman's warm beautiful waters.
Alisa Dunovant, Shop Assistant
Stop by on Wednesday and Friday afternoons or on Saturdays and meet Alisa. She is an avid diver - completed her Advanced Open Water last year and is looking down the road to becoming a Divemaster in the near future. Also an accomplished musician, Alisa plays for her high school band in competitions and will be going onto college next year.
